The Diabetes UK Stockport Tadpole group is one of over 350 voluntary groups situated throughout the UK.
We are a Voluntary Support Group for children and their families. The group was set up in 1994 with the help of the British Diabetic Association (as it was then). The Group since then has always been self-funding and relies entirely on fundraising activities.
We are "under the umbrella" of Diabetes UK and we are part of their Voluntary Group Network. We give the children and their parents an opportunity to share experiences and offer support for newly diagnosed children to help them cope with their diabetes.
We like to Award the children with "Certificates of Achievements" for doing their own blood sugars, doing their own insulin injections or managing their diabetes using an insulin pump. We organise various events for the children and their families throughout the year through fundraising activities.
Committee members go on Diabetes UK Training Courses and are CRB checked.
